Impact of Working Load on Life
Current regulations require the leaf chain to be replaced at 3% elongation (wear). A longer chain life would result in lower ownership costs and, over time, fewer leaf chain being made, with all the associated reduction in CO2.
Balancing Tensile and Fatigue Strength: Advancing Leaf Chain Durability for Sustainable Manufacturing
Understanding the mechanical properties of materials is crucial to ensuring the safety and longevity of the leaf chain. Two fundamental concepts often need to be considered: fatigue strength and tensile strength.

Why do we use imperial measurements when measuring chain?
When working with customers to identify leaf chain, something which regularly comes up in conversation is why are chain sizes in imperial measurement (feet and inches) and not nice, neat whole round numbers like metric millimetres? Let’s take a closer look. The Metric system First of all, the contenders: The Metric
